For La Vie en Rose
It must have been almost a decade ago that we published for the first time with this stunning, funny, delightful - yet deeply touching your soul - lady … and it was through this series. The approach: the Jazz age/1920s, that frivolous period of fierce and intense life. The result is a super sensual, beautifully interpreted black & white atmosphere taking on a warm glow. In this series, Georgina shows her true acting talent, her lips possibly taste like champagne and her eyes twinkle the passion of a ‘Flapper'. One can visibly sense she is partying with Scott and Zelda Fitzgerard, listening to live music of Cole Porter and is getting some good advice from Gertrude Stein (not in a Woody Allen kinda way). George had been stuck on a film set and was consequently hours late for the shoot. The overcompensation resulted in a record number of shots and these immediately set the tone for the subsequent series for this magazine.
She studied silver photography techniques at the 'Stedelijk Instituut voor Sierkunsten en Ambachten' in Antwerp and thought she'd make career of it. Thus she started working under the name of Fotofloor in 1994. Then she met Mike, a music-mad handyman who spent hours on his computer creating soundtracks for fashion shows. Floor became interested in things digital, while Mike had a go at photography. Love did the rest. Today the couple operates as a well-oiled creativity-machine, with Floor behind the camera and Mike in front of the screen. Working as signature photographers for leading magazines, international brands and record labels. They are known for their celebrity portraits and sell their art through several galleries worldwide.
Behind this record-label type moniker, Mike van der Giessen and Floor Stoop are an inseparable pair of photographers who now have been working together for over ten years. Floor has always been mad about photography and used to create fake holiday pics as a kid, featuring family members, including even absent ones.
